Probably the oldest hotel on the island of Ammouliani, the Agionissi Resort is still the biggest settlement for the tourists.
The hotel Agionissi is set on a picturesque hill overlooking the bay of Mt.Athos. All the buildings are surrounded by rich vegetation – olive trees as well as Mediterranean flowers and plants. The hotel is integrated in the green landscape.
Location
The Agionissi Resort is 1 km south from the main village in Ammouliani. The most beautiful beaches – Alikes, Agios Georgios ans Megali Amos are few minutes by car from the complex.
Hotel’s guests definitely need a car to reach the most interesting places on the island. The hotel provides shuttle services to the village, port and main beaches. The one-way ticket costs 2 euros per person.
The hotel Agionissi is suitable for people who are looking for a peaceful and quiet vacation. The resort is located on a secluded area of the island. For the hotel guests there are three private beaches at the bottom of the hill.
Amenities and Services
Rooms
We were accommodated on the ground floor with view of the Mount Athos and the sea. The room was spacious enough. We were able to watch many TV channels in English and Russian. The bathroom was comfortable with a stylish shower.
Yet, the fact that Wi-Fi was not available in the room was very annoying. Another thing we did not like was the note that there was a fine if guests put their own products in the fridge. There was no coffee-making machine in the room. Considering how high prices were in the resort, all this was too strict. Cleanliness was on average level – they changed the towels every 3 days and sleepwear – once per week.
It was not possible to sleep on Saturdays due to loud parties in a neighboring area.
Rooms were decorated in Mediterranean style. Floors were covered with natural stone. The combination of beige and white brought a touch of classics.
Common spaces
The swimming pool is big but features very simple design. Obviously, it had not been renovated since its building.
The reception area is at least attractive. It is located in a separate building. It can be reached from the back yard or from the swimming pool. It neighbors the spa center and the restaurant. The dining area is probably the best designed – with beautiful view of the Aegean sea and the sunset. As you approach the spa center you will face an impressive giant fossil of a dolphin found and excavated during the building of the complex.
Overall we found the Agionissi Resort, Ammouliani not giving enough value for money. It might be good for those looking for a quiet location but the hotel seemed too isolated for us.
