There are more than one hundred luxury Punta Cana hotels. One of the most popular destinations is Club Hotel Riu Bambu featuring a 24h all Inclusive concept. It is located in the Eastern part of the Dominican Republic. The complex is 19 miles (30 km) from Punta Cana International airport. The location is vibrant and lively so no one is surprised that this Punta Cana hotel targets tourists who prefer having fun rather than relaxing.
Ten-twelve years ago, the accommodation was surrounded by abundant tropical vegetation but now the place is busy with constantly growing lodges. I remember when we used to enjoy a landscape with endless palm trees and could walk for hours with a feeling of peace. Now only the hotel`s garden is still like an exotic paradise. Unlike resorts in Northern part of the Dominican Republic, this beachfront hotel in Arena Gorda area, offers fewer opportunities for quiet and relaxing atmosphere.
Entertainment
This Punta Cana hotel is all fun. It is perfect for intensive tropical holidays. The five-star accommodation is located in a Riu Resorts complex consisting of Riu Palace Macao, Riu Palace Punta Cana, Hotel Riu Palace Bavaro and the Hotel Riu Naiboa. It is family friendly unlike Riu Palace which is for adults only. The Riu Bambu hotel consists of houses. We have stayed at Riu Palace Macao, Riu Bambu and Riu Melao that doesn’t exist anymore. Bambu is the favorite place for me and my family because of the comfort, excellent facilities and the atmosphere.
The seashore in front of the Hotel Riu Bambu is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean region with its powder white sand and turquoise-colored water. The ocean can be rough and the beach is windy but it is summer all-round the year here. For our 3 stays in this hotel we preferred booking a room in December, February and March.
In the complex there are three swimming pools and a Jacuzzi. You can also use some of the facilities of the other hotels. You have an access to live music or shows as well as many bars and cafes within the Riu complex. You can also enjoy the entertainment programs or sports activities that run at the Riu Naiboa hotel. On the Caribbean Street in Riu complex there are charming gift shops, as well as a discotheque. On this street the hotel managers organize a Caribbean carnival show for all the tourists.
Dinning
This Punta Cana hotel features great themed restaurants. We enjoyed the main place to eat – the “Colonial” restaurant because of live cooking places and a huge variety of sea food, salads and meat. Our favorite place for dinner was also the Asian restaurant “Hibachi” featuring an exceptional variety of sushi and specialties from Japanese cuisine. The Mexican restaurant was also great. There is one bar offering snack. It is open 24 hours. The all Inclusive service includes unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. There is a minibar in each room.
Getting around Riu Bambu
This Punta Cana hotel serves as a starting point for excursions to amazing places such as Saona Island, Manati Park, and Altos de Chavón. Based on our experience, we would not recommend the deep sea fishing tours. The ocean was extremely rough and we did not catch any fish at all. The average price of all full day trips is $90 for and adult. An exception was an excursion to Saona Island that included a flight to a small airport in the area in order to allow us to make Punta Cana aerial photos. The tour was a combination with a visit of Altos de Chavon village, rafting in the river where Apocalypse Now movie was shot, catamaran to Saona and a stop in a natural swimming pool. This tour was amazing but of course almost twice as expensive as the regular excursion.
