As one of the top summer destinations, Zante attracts mainly young people from Europe. Compared to other Ionian islands (Kefalonia, Lefkada and Corfu), Zakynthos is an incredibly affordable Greek island. At least it was during our vacations in July 2016 and August 2017. For example, drinks cost half what they do in other places in Greece.
Before our summer vacation in July 2016 we wondered how much money would we need – 70, 80 or 100 euros per day? In fact, we did well with 70 euros for three people (without expenditures on gasoline). For three of us, two salads, two main meals, bruschetta, carafe wine, a bottle of water averaged around €35 euro.
